The 31st of August is a very special day to football fans around the world. It’s the last day of transfer season (aka “silly season”), meaning whoever is on your favorite club today will be with you until at least January 1st. All of the summer’s drama and all of the speculation ends today as moves are made literally every minute around the world.
So, what do Premier League fans have to look forward to today? Manchester United fans will be hitting refresh on their computers all day waiting for confirmation …

Hull City manager Phil Brown is attempting to use the situation surrounding Dimitar Berbatov as he attempts to land Fraizer Campbell. The Tigers have made a £7 million bid, and Brown is hoping that United’s quest to sign the Bulgarian could deliver the young Englishman to the KC Stadium.
However Ferguson may want to hold on to the England Under-21s player, who spent 7 months on loan with Hull last season scoring 15 goals, as he already has a depleted strike force, allowing both Louis Saha and Dong Fangzhuo to move on. While Saha’s …

The latest news is that the injury prone Frenchman Louis Saha is on his way to Everton. This is in addition to the news in the last 24 hours that Chinese striker Dong left Old Trafford. I think a new striker could be signing soon. With Spurs holding firm, Sir Alex may be forced to pursue other targets, with many fans suggesting Huntelaar of Ajax could be on the cards. However, it could be that Ferguson is just settling for the four strikers he has, despite saying he wanted more …

Each year the English Premier League casts many surprises. Whether it’s a surprise team (think back to Wigan in their first season in the Premiership), a surprise player, or a surprise manager (hello, Mr. Mourinho), there are always twists and turns to each season’s story. Already this season has seen a few twists, especially when it comes to the following five players and their early season triumphs.
Dean Ashton
Dean Ashton certainly isn’t an unknown quantity, but few could’ve expected the form we’ve seen from him in preseason and in the first …

Group A
In Group A, Chelsea will square off against Roma, Bordeaux, and Romanian side CFR Cluj. With Chelsea and Roma heavy favorites, Bordeaux will certainly make it a fight. With their prestigious youth academy, Bordeaux has a tendency of unearthing some teenage gems, and the club will …

The suits of the English Premier League are constantly thinking of ways to make the sport and the league better, and this summer two major changes were implemented. First, the FA chose to introduce a special “respect” campaign which will (hypothetically) eliminate abuse of match officials. The second change, and the more effective one, allows Premiership clubs to name seven subs to the bench. The old rule only allowed five.
Your initial reaction might be something like “but what does having two more players on the bench have to do with …

National reports are today suggesting Mark Hughes has offered a life-line to out of favor England midfielder Shaun Wright Phillips, as the manager looks to make more additions.
Shaun Wright Phillips has always been held in high regard by the Manchester faithful, following a string of wonderful performances having graduated from the Manchester City academy. This form SWP was showing led to flattering interest from illustrious clubs worldwide, and eventually he signed a deal taking him to Stamford Bridge for £21,000,000 pounds. Despite this considerable sum, Wright-Phillips was left in the …

In the Premiership, you’ll seldom hear talk of the players that helped win the trophies or grabbed the personal awards without the names Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard or Cesc Fabregas cropping up at some point. However, behind these men who grab the headlines there are many players who give everything for their team. They don’t start every game, or play for lesser teams, but they are patient, determined and extremely strong willed. We look back at seven of the top unsung heroes of last season, and what we can expect of …

Long gone are the days where Bolton were a side who struck fear into many of the Premier League’s greatest sides. Under Sam Allardyce, the rough side from northern England used to put up a fight 38+ games each season - no matter who the opponent was. The side was one that went to war every 90 minutes on the pitch; without much technical ability it came down to heart and desire. When Big Sam left the Reebok Stadium, it seems like he took Bolton’s heart with him.
This season was …
