Overcoming Adversity: The Everton Way

It happens all too often in any and all sports. The star player goes down, and the team’s season follows suit. Nobody ever makes a good enough attempt to save the season. Nobody ever steps up into that leadership role. It’s as if the star player was the manager or coach of that team. All of a sudden, the actual leader of the team can’t get their team to perform, and the losses start piling up. With that in mind, it wouldn’t have been all that surprising to see Everton’s …

Henrik Larsson to Everton?

Yesterday’s top news story at Goodison Park was centered around Yakubu’s season-ending injury. Today, word coming out of Goodison Park is that David Moyes and company have found what they think is a suitable replacement. Taking a page out of Manchester United’s book, the Merseyside club are looking into the prospect of signing Swedish legend Henrik Larsson on loan.
Henrik Larsson scored 242 goals in 315 matches for Celtic as he became one of Celtic’s all time greatest players. After a short stint with Barcelona which saw Larsson take home the …

Yakubu Out for Season

Everton celebrated their 1-0 win over Tottenham half-heartedly, knowing that there are many problems the Toffees will need to deal with in the coming weeks. Following the match, David Moyes confirmed that striker Yakubu will be out for the rest of the Premier League campaign. The Nigerian was subbed out in the first half after injuring his achilles tendon, and now faces a long layoff.
Furthermore, Yakubu’s replacement - Louis Saha - was stretchered off later in the match with a hamstring tear. There is no word on how long Saha …

Everton
Over the summer David Moyes made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the funds that Everton was giving him. The end result has seen Everton make one key signing in the form of Louis Saha, who is yet to appear for the Merseyside club. On opening day the Toffees suffered a last minute defeat against Paul Ince’s Blackburn side, but a victory against West Brom …

The latest news is that the injury prone Frenchman Louis Saha is on his way to Everton. This is in addition to the news in the last 24 hours that Chinese striker Dong left Old Trafford. I think a new striker could be signing soon. With Spurs holding firm, Sir Alex may be forced to pursue other targets, with many fans suggesting Huntelaar of Ajax could be on the cards. However, it could be that Ferguson is just settling for the four strikers he has, despite saying he wanted more …

They don’t start every game, or play for lesser teams, but they are patient, determined and extremely strong willed. We look back at seven of the top unsung heroes of last season, and what we can expect of …

Winners
Stoke City. The newly promoted club gained a momentous first victory in the Premier League. As Aston Villa were coming off of a huge 4-2 win over Manchester City, the club from Birmingham were looking like they’d easily steamroll over Stoke. This was not the case, however, as Mamady Sidibe grabbed a stoppage time winner. This win means that Stoke already have as many wins as Derby County had all season - now let’s see if they can build on it and survive in the world’s best league.
Felipe Scolari and …

United States international Michael Bradley is currently attracting the interest of three English clubs. With Celtic also hot on his heels, Dutch club Heerenveen has stated that Bradley is available for transfer at the right price. Bradley is fresh off of the Olympics and is returning to Europe today.
Middlesbrough, Blackburn, and Everton are the three sides interested in the American. He has previously been sought after by clubs like Derby County. Many people in American soccer circles believe that Bradley has what it takes to make it in the Premier …

The opening weekend of the English Premier League saw many surprise results as well as many disappointments. Here’s a rundown of which players, teams, managers, and fans won or lost:
Winners
- Middlesbrough. Gareth Southgate and his men were faced with the tough task of going up against a rejuvenated Spurs side to open the season. Boro played above all expectations and grabbed a well deserved victory at home. The manner of the victory was important, too. Southgate’s men weren’t hesitant at all as they ripped the Tottenham backline apart with plenty …
