Sunderland Searching

How will Sunderland fill the void left by former manager Roy Keane?
As of right now, there is no clear cut favorite. Just this morning, former Sunderland boss and current Thailand national team manager, Peter Reid was said to be interested in the job. However, after being interviewed following Thailand’s 6-0 victory over Laos, Reid was quoted as saying: “I haven’t asked for the job at Sunderland. I have been there once and loved it, it’s a great place, but I am enjoying working here.”
So what does this mean for Sunderland?

Keane Hanging On By A Thread

As always, this weekend’s fixtures will be another set of games bound to be as thrilling and exciting as every week in the Premiership. But this week, things could get a little more interesting all because of Sunderland manager Roy Keane.

Keane Sets Sunderland Striker Target

With over one-third of the season underway, Sunderland fans are still wondering why their strike force can’t get things going. Over the summer the likes of Djibril Cisse and El-Hadji Diouf were added to the Stadium of Light ranks, but the goals haven’t come with them. Cisse is in the richest vein of form out of all of Sunderland’s strikers, and he finds himself with a mere five goals. Kenwyne Jones led the team in scoring last season with seven, and is now healthy enough to start chasing after …

The Black Cats have quietly put together a good side up north, and fans plan on avoiding the relegation battle that they saw last season. Already this season has seen a few twists, especially when it comes to the following five players and their early season triumphs.
Dean Ashton
Dean Ashton certainly isn’t an unknown quantity, but few could’ve expected the form we’ve seen from him in preseason and in the first …

They don’t start every game, or play for lesser teams, but they are patient, determined and extremely strong willed. We look back at seven of the top unsung heroes of last season, and what we can expect of …

The season is young, but this year has already seen more than five players score on their debuts for their new clubs. Fans of Sunderland, Wigan, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Hull all know who these men are. For those of you that do not, read on about five of these debutant goalscorers.

Winners
Stoke City. The newly promoted club gained a momentous first victory in the Premier League. As Aston Villa were coming off of a huge 4-2 win over Manchester City, the club from Birmingham were looking like they’d easily steamroll over Stoke. This was not the case, however, as Mamady Sidibe grabbed a stoppage time winner. This win means that Stoke already have as many wins as Derby County had all season - now let’s see if they can build on it and survive in the world’s best league.
Felipe Scolari and …

Sunderland are just hours away from completing yet another summer signing. In a bid to bolster his backline, manager Roy Keane has had a bid for West Ham United defender Anton Ferdinand accepted. The bid is believed to be in the region of £8 million.
Anton Ferdinand’s career has taken a backseat to his older brother Rio’s. A few years ago, though, Anton was viewed as a fantastic prospect. Now, a move away from Upton Park may revitalize the still young defender. Roy Keane has the ability to turn a player’s …

Everyone knows that Alex Ferguson is arguably the most highly rated manager of all time in the English game. He persevered through a rocky start, eventually winning his first trophy.
